The Bonnet House in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Chicago-born artist Frederic Clay Bartlett created Bonnet House in 1920 on South Florida oceanfront land given to him and his second wife, Helen Louise Birch, by her father, Hugh Taylor Birch, a prominent Chicago attorney, real estate investor, and naturalist. Tragedy struck in 1925 when Helen died from breast cancer and in 1931 Frederic married Evelyn Fortune Lilly. She spent winters at Bonnet House until 1995. Today, the estate is a preeminent house museum dedicated not only to historic and environmental preservation, but also to learning and creative expression – much like the Bartletts and Birches themselves. The Bonnet House is a non-profit organization.

We practice what St. Benedict taught his monks: “All who present themselves are to be welcomed.”

Specialized botanical gardens include some of the largest collections of naturalized orchids, cycads, and heliconias gingers in the contiguous United States and over 3,000 species of rare & exotic, tropical, subtropical, and native plants, and trees. Flamingo Gardens’ Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary is a home to permanently injured or non-releasable Florida native wildlife including alligators, bobcats, eagles, otters, panthers, peacocks, and of course, flamingos!

What Clients are Saying About Us

It was great having chef Patrick Thezan cook for our family and friends. A very pleasant experience! And we look forward to having him cook for us again!

Chef Patrick came to my home an hour away to cook an anniversary dinner for my husband and I. I had recently given birth to our 3rd child who was 5 months old at the time. It was such a special evening as me, my husband and my 6- and 7-year-olds enjoyed a wonderful fine dining experience with AMAZINGLY delicious food!! It was so spectacular that I hired him to come weekly and prepare food for the week for my family. I needed his services badly with three young children and one being a newborn. My kids still say that he has the best spaghetti ever! My husband loves his lamb chops and steak. He is very professional, kind, and SUPER talented. Do not hesitate to use him for any event!!

Niikis Doherty

We’ve had multiple events that provided catering services for, and every time our clients were beyond happy. Chef Patrick’ cuisine is high-end and delectable. Service is exceptional, and more importantly he’s receptive and truly cares about his craft. If you’re looking for great food/service, we highly recommend The Happy Hour Chefs, you will not be disappointed.

Club Tropical Ballroom

We recently organized a fundraiser in Miami and wanted the experience to be youthful, chic, and modern. The Happy Hour chefs did not fail us, in fact, they exceeded our expectations. The hors d’œuvres were visually appealing (works of art) and delicious. The service enhanced our guests’ experience and contributed to our events’ success. Thank you, Chef Patrick!
