THE BONNET HOUSE FORT LAUDERDALE
Chicago-born artist Frederic Clay Bartlett created Bonnet House in 1920 on South Florida oceanfront land given to him and his second wife, Helen Louise Birch, by her father, Hugh Taylor Birch, a prominent Chicago attorney, real estate investor, and naturalist. Tragedy struck in 1925 when Helen died from breast cancer and in 1931 Frederic married Evelyn Fortune Lilly. She spent winters at Bonnet House until 1995. Today, the estate is a preeminent house museum dedicated not only to historic and environmental preservation, but also to learning and creative expression – much like the Bartletts and Birches themselves. OLD SCHOOL SQUARE, DELRAY BEACH FL
The Cornell Art Museum is housed in the restored 1913 Delray Elementary School building on the Old School Square campus. The Cornell Art Museum was dedicated in 1990 and named in honor of Delray Beach residents Harriet W. and George D. Cornell. The architecture, formally known as “Masonry Vernacular,” makes the building unique in the downtown area. This style was used for several smaller buildings in the Old School Square Historic Arts District. During the restoration process, the original atrium and classrooms, which are now exhibition spaces, were restored to preserve the rare Dade County Pine floors, tall windows, and open space. The only significant modification to the interior was to open the atrium up to the second floor, allowing for natural light to stream in and provide a more spacious feel.

STRANAHAN HOUSE MUSEUM
was built in 1901 by Frank Stranahan, credited as Fort Lauderdale’s founding father, and his wife Ivy Cromartie Stranahan, the area’s first school teacher. It is the oldest surviving structure in Broward County and has served as a trading post, post office, town hall, and home to the Stranahans.
The house is a wood-frame vernacular structure with wide porches and a stunning view of the New River. It was lovingly restored by the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society and the Fort Lauderdale Board of Realtors and opened to the public as a historic house museum in 1984.

THE YOUNG MANSION, HOLLYWOOD FL
Feel like you have been transported to an Andalusian villa in the south of Spain. Built in 1925 as the personal residence of the founder of Hollywood by the Sea, Josheph W. Young. This 23 room Spanish Moorish architectural gem was designed by the prominent Indianapolis architects, Rubush and Hunter, with help from Young’s personal friend- famed architect Addison Mizner.
In addition to building the City of Hollywood, Mr. Young also developed Port Everglades where Fort Lauderdale Airport is today, and he served as the first Mayor of Hollywood. The mansion is listed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places and the Florida State Heritage Register. In the 1920’s and 1930’s the mansion was the site of many special gatherings and the wedding venue for two of Mr. Young’s sons.

FAIRCHILD TROPICAL BOTANIC GARDEN, CORAL GABLES FL
The Garden’s first 15 years saw the construction of its primary buildings and landscape features, including the Montgomery Palmetum, Bailey Palm Glade, Allée and Overlook, Vine Pergola, Garden Club of Amphitheater, Gate House, Montgomery Library and Museum, 11 lakes, stone terracing walls, irrigation systems, Moos Sunken Garden, and the Nell Montgomery Garden House. Later buildings included the Davis House (1953), Hawkes Laboratory (1960), Robbins Plant Science Building (1967), Rare Plant House (1968), Corbin Education Building (1972), Jean duPont Shehan Visitor Center (2002), Whitman Tropical Fruit Pavilion (2005), DiMare Science Village (2012), Burns Science Building (2012), The Clinton Family Conservatory (2012), Adam R. Rose and Peter R. McQuillan Arts Center (2014) and various additions over the years. A comprehensive master plan developed in 1994 provides a framework for continued growth and development. The Rare Plant House, now called Tropical Plant Conservatory and Rare Plant House, was totally renovated in 1995 and again 2012, as was the Gate House, a locally designated historic landmark.
